Critics apart from I think Stephanie Zacharek were so ready to dismiss it at the time, it seemed to go right into dustbins. I think not just the music is compelling in it, that it's proof that a Bob Dylan song--a good, very dark one--can be made as a movie. With more help than he got with Renaldo and Clara.

I actually just rewatched this on Sunday night. Hadn't seen it since right after the DVD came out, so probably late 2003 or early 2004. Just about as strange as I remembered. I keep hoping the Bootleg Series might get around to the recordings they did for the soundtrack – that version of "I'll Remember You" is lovely.
