Excuse me folks. Diane has a cold, a viral cold, she tore muscles in her torso coughing. She's doing alright.

I love the members of the group. Let me count the ways. With Greil its his Days Between Station columns. Owen its his music reviews. Manohla-we have a good working relationship and even in weeks where movies are fallow she finds something that no one is talking about. Steph-she'll get mad at me if I don't say she likes sex but she is a spiritual writer. Better angels and she likes to find something to like. Ty's political. If history is being made it will reach his column. Along with Owen the most comprehensive.

So what I wanted to say was on Monday and Tuesday Greil and I had an agreement-to love each other. To put the project out. To pay the piper.

Ty that's a good conclusion. No matter how we got there. The audience can get behind it. I'm into it. Will Greil back away from the project? Will people try to undermine it because the truth is dodgy? What kind of dudes are you? Are you like the republicans you despise? Are you stand up dudes? This is serious business. A dramatic moment

I recently bought postage stamps and I know, that makes me old, etc., but I chose the stamps commemorating New Orleans musician Allen Toussaint, who I know about since he worked on horn arrangements for The Band in the 70's (Cahoots, Rock Of Ages, Last Waltz). There's a funny story about him traveling up from the South to bring the horn charts that were used for the Academy of Music shows The Band were performing at the end of 1971. Toussaint either lost or had the briefcase containing the music stolen on the train, so Robbie Robertson had to put him up in a cabin either on his own Woodstock property or maybe it was Albert Grossman's place, to re-do all the music. But it all worked out as Rock Of Ages contains Toussaint's arrangements done live by the NYC horn players.

Greil you're enthusiastic about the music. There's nobody I'd rather serve time with....I'm joking. Diane and I have colds, viral colds but we don't infect others we work with. The review is about community---ours is doing a bang up and unheralded job. Pay the piper.

The world got a little brighter today.
