Sounding more alive to The Whole World In a Song than a caffiending 20-something. Loquacious, sure, but the ratio of signal to noise is astonishing. So, say, if Dylan goes down as the greatest Beat singer-songwriter of them all would that be shorting his importance?

The comments about "Like a Rolling Stone" brought me to Spielberg and Kushner's Lincoln which I used to glibly describe as "the Termite that walked like an Elephant" without really knowing what I was talking about. The film is really about how the thirteenth amendment, the amendment that most defines what kind of country we're going to aspire to, almost didn't happen. And if it didn't happen what kind of country would we be living in. So we got the kind of nail biter that happened with Apollo 13 where we know history happened but we didn't really know how so we had the feeling that this time it might not happen, the country might not happen and it still might not happen.
