Greil I love your writing. I read this epieces religiously as they say if they're corny writers. but just like back in the day I wait for them the way I used to wait for Wednesday or Tuesday night sometimes for the next VV and I love the feeling I get the I see to remember some of them from back then. Theres smooch more to say but for now I just say thanks for reposting these writings, they are a perfect length too. greatest of reads. thanks. I feel like im in Sheridan square, in front of united cigars. time tripping is a great blessing and ow its surprisingly works so well. xoxAnn Rower,

This is so wonderful! Even apart from the drama at sea and the ephemeral collective, American memory we share from having nursed on it all our lives, the unrepentant use of personal history, real or imagined to inform each sentence and daydream we attempt to get onto the page - and the permission here to do so enthusiastically - regardless of topic or form is what sends shivers up and down my spine! Thank you so much!

The most moving, personal article I've ever read by Greil Marcus, or perhaps anyone else. It reads like the opening chapter of an autobiography or memoir. It belongs in any definitive collection of "Creative Nonfiction" or whatever academics are calling it these days. Bravo. (Not "Rio Bravo").

Very moving and profound, and very sad and powerful. You show how random media images/sounds can awaken/interact with our deep (buried) feelings/memories to reveal unusual and unexpected connections with the world and history and people we would never have thought we had a connection with. Very well written. Thanks for posting it.
